$1,000.00 Scholarship Opportunity Available For the Hugh Cranford All-Scholastic Team

Two special awards recognizing the Academic accomplishments and/or Community Service of five Junior Golfers. Golfers have a chance to apply for one or both. There are separate applications for each award category.

Deadline to apply is April 1, 2018.

Academic and Essay Award-- (4 golfers selected)

Community Service Award- (1 golfer selected)

Applications are NOW being accepted. The team will consist of golfers between the ages of 16 and 18 as of the last day of the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships (August 1, 2018). Junior golfers selected to the team will receive an automatic exemption into the championships, complimentary registration that includes tournament entry, hotel accommodations and meals plus $1,000.00 scholarship. The Scholarship will be sent directly to the financial aid department of the recipient's chosen University, College or Technical School.

Five junior golfers internationally-wide will be selected. The selection will be made by the end of April to give the junior golfers not selected an opportunity to still enter a district qualifying tournament.

Greetings, Optimist Family!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, ALMS Optimists! I trust you and yours had an enjoyable and blessed Thanksgiving. It seems as if time is really whizzing past us; therefore, we need to optimistically catch up with it and add more steam to our ALMS Train engine.

The Second Quarter District Meeting will be January 19-21 in Hattiesburg, MS; I implore you to do your best to attend. The proposed training will include Orientation to Optimism for New Members, Don’t be Afraid of Social Media/Technology, a Very Special Skit, and some Special Activities for our Guests; I don’t believe you will be disappointed if you attend. So, go ahead and pack, gas up, and get aboard The ALMS Optimist Strong Train for the Second Quarter District Meeting!

Last, but not least, I want to send A BIG THANK YOU to the fifty plus attendees (OI Trainer, Fatima Plater, ALMS Presenters, Members, and Guests)) who supported our first Quarter Optimist Strong Conference; from the majority of the evaluations, everyone had an awesome time and received valuable information and training!
